About Us

SOTA Robotics (HK) Limited is an AI and robotics technology start-up specialising in automated high-value waste sorting, auditing and ESG solutions. It was founded by Prof Fei Chen, who is affiliated with CUHK’s Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering. Solid research and close collaboration with the recycling industry have led to the development of state-of-the-art robotic products for sorting non-ferrous metals and microchips. SOTA Robotics also offers RaaS with portable platforms and configurable recognition algorithms for waste audition and contributes first-hand statistics to ESG in the waste management sector. The company’s proprietary sensing, recognition and manipulation technologies have delivered accurate, cost-effective and efficient products to customers. To implement and commercialise the effective solutions, the team subsequently received start-up funding from the Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) and the Incubation Programme provided by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP).

To date, the disassembly, separation and sorting of solid wastes are still dominated by manual labour and are the nadir of the recycling industry. SOTA Robotics is dedicated to using cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies to help the recycling industry solve these elusive tasks with quality and efficiency. The company’s goal is to make a positive contribution to environmental protection and the sustainability of society and the economy.
